Paprika! Of course! Why would a set come with both ground and crushed red pepper? Then again, it can’t be a great set if it doesn’t come with oregano. I’m quite sad for your spagettii that it doesn’t include this. At least tell me you own garlic and at least occasionally buy some fresh basil.
Congratulations Vivian and Lydia. You must send us all recipies.

No, silly: garlic and basil aren’t spices, they’re produce. I used to grow basil, but my herb garden died (darned cats). As for oregano, I have a big ole pint-sized tub of stuff mysteriously labeled “Italian Spices.” I like to think it contains oregano.
Other note: this isn’t a set. I bought the bottles at Wal-mart for a buck apiece, and transfered my McCormicks into them. So I suppose it’s theoretically possible that I’d have both ground and crushed red pepper. And yes, that means I have no nifty, clearly labeled honey-oak spice carousel that also holds utensils. I use ‘em just the way they’re pictured.
And just in case you’re all wondering, I once accidentally put paprika into my oatmeal (hey, the lights were low). I then added extra cinnamon and ate it. I live.

Curses! Foiled again, and by Vivian B. Who is this mysterious kitchen maven? I think we should have a rematch.

Thanks for your follow up note, Joel. I feel much better about your spagetti now. I’m still not sure how I feel about ginger on oatmeal, but certainly can’t knock it since I haven’t tried it.

Ohmygosh, speaking of ginger, you know what’s good? Ginger and peanut butter. Seriously. It is.
(And if you’ve eaten thai food you probably already believe me.)

I believe you. Add a touch of vinegar, water until a good consistancy, and gr and you’ve got a very good and easy peanut sauce. Having some for lunch actually on some vegetable bao (fluffy buns filled with vegi’s and sauce) - can’t wait.

I would just like to say a hardy (har har) congratulations to the spice gods and godesses around here. Well done. And Joel, thanks for spicing up my day. A good thyme was had by all. : )
I didn’t have any answers for this quiz or I would have cinnamon to you. Oh yes I would have.

Strange, something seems to have happened to my last comment. What I meant was:
Add a touch of vinegar, water until a good consistancy, ground red pepper to taste and you’ve got a very good and easy peanut sauce.

Thank God you cleared that up! My inner 6th grade boy just really likes the fact that you were eating balls for lunch. World (and everybody else, too) have a happy thanksgiving!
By honest + popular on Nov 25, 2004
Oh, hell, my inner 6th grade boy is easily excitable and doesn’t have the greatest reading comprehension either. Buns for lunch is still funny, though. (Balls would’ve been funnier still.) My I.S.G.B. gives up- temporarily.

My inner tofurky says I had a very nice Thanksgiving. Thank you. I hope you’ve fed your I.S.G.B. well.

My tofurkey was all furked up again this year. Next episode, tofu, NEXT EPISODE!!
