blood orange

This produce has gone slightly past its prime.
A blood orange which has remained since Christmas. It's a tad desiccated.

from bear to beaver

This shade of blue has only ever appeared in nature twice before.
This is the view from the highest point at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Having already spotted North & South Manitou Islands, we were at a loss to know the name of this island in the distance. When we returned to the car, we looked at our atlas, and after some scratchpad geometry, determined that this was Beaver Island, some forty miles away!
