eric loy live at the blue bottle
November 4, 2004 – 9:38 pmI was hanging around the Blue Bottle on a Thursday night, when in walks guitarist Eric Loy. He has a really weird guitar so I hung around to hear him play it. He’s as good as his axe is weird. Actually he’s better. He puts on a good show, playing instrumental adaptations of everything from the theme to The Jetsons to Anchors Away to Bach’s Bourree in A Minor. Good stuff.

This instrument, which Eric casually calls the “harp” is part bass guitar, part guitar and part harp. Combined with electronic effects from his amp and effects processor, it has an amazing range of sound.

Note: Eric’s website claims to have the “latest live gig photos,” but I do believe that my pictures are, at the time of this publishing, the most recent live gig photos available. Not to nit-pick or anything, I’m just saying…

What the heck, another Loy fan? Cool, so then have you heard his adaptation of the Perry Mason theme? (Last track from “Free Hand”.) That’s my fave; it makes me grin everytime.
